New buses ready for use | Bangkok Post: news

New natural gas vehicle (NGV) air-conditioned buses are ready to serve people travelling to Sanam Luang from Dec 21 as the first lot of 100 vehicles has been shipped to Thailand. Five of them will be first used to facilitate Sanam Luang-goers while the rest will run on 22 other routes in Bangkok, Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) chief Surachai Eamvachirasakul said yesterday. Others, together with 389 more NGV buses scheduled to be delivered within this month, will serve people in four bus operation zones. The 489 NGV buses are part of the BMTA's plan to repair and buy new buses. Next week, the Transport Ministry will ask the cabinet to approve its purchase of 200 electric buses, said deputy Transport Minister Ormsin Chivapruck.
